This merger really allows us to grow and begin developing impactful programs to improve birth.
First, by the end of spring, the ImprovingBirth Network will be up and running, moving towards the important step of getting roots down in local communities to make real change.
You'll soon be able to search for local network chapters, participate as a member with benefits, and even have the opportunity for your birth business to be listed in our local and national directories.
Second and our most important project on the agenda this year, our Mother-Friendly Provider Designation and Directory.
One of the #1 questions we get asked is, "How do I find a provider?"
"How can I find a doctor near me that has a low c-section rate?"
"How do you find out a providers cesarean rate?"
"Where can I find an evidence based provider?"
What if we could build a program that qualified providers, required them to track and maintain healthy rates, and put them into a searchable directory by zip code and type of insurance they accept?
Pretty amazing right?!
Families would be able to use their consumer power by having options and delivering a clear message about the care they want and expect.
This program could have a significant impact as the average doctor or hospital-based midwife attends approximately 20 births a month.
For every 100 designated Mother-Friendly providers, we would directly impact the quality of birth for 24,000 families a year.
ImprovingBirth exists because of our collective desire and drive to never see or hear again what we have all witnessed or experienced personally in maternity care. But we can't do this without your financial support.
We need to raise $56,000 to develop The Mother-Friendly Provider designation program. If each of our email followers gave just $10, we'd have this raised in an hour!
