Dawn is a true storyteller. She can guide a room full of people down the path through a full spectrum of emotions, moving them to tears and then have them on their feet cheering in a matter of minutes. All while gently sharing and teaching them about the consumer's experience of a broken maternity care system and why their role in change is crucial.
Dawn has never been the shrinking violet in the corner. Growing up, on each and every report card her teachers would say “Dawn is such a lovely girl, but she talks too much.”
Those teachers just didn’t appreciate or understand Dawns true super power, Communications!
Her passion to improve birth and the experiences for the families of this country during childbirth is undeniable.

Dawn speaks to emotion and reason which activates decision-making thought. She is able to captivate an audience through storytelling, surrounding personal and professional experiences of pregnancy and birth, while demanding answers to evidence for recommended care. Factual reassurance about the state of maternity care is what people want to hear today, and Dawn will deliver.
- Ginger Breedlove, ACNM PresidentDr. Chavira places a high value on the emotional, spiritual, and ethical aspects of pregnancy, childbirth, and maternity care. He has a particular interest in natural childbirth, VBAC, vaginal birth for multiple gestations, and breech vaginal birth
Its rare to find a Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialist (high risk doctor) who believes and speaks to the normalcy of birth even when faced with the most complicated pregnancies and fetal issues.
Dr. Chavira inspires and moves people. He can easily move from speaking to a large group of providers, to consumers and birth professionals. Beyond technical talks, he speaks to the ways we can improve care overall.
